Tam-Jai

Tam-Jai, the rough translation in Thai being: follow your heart. And what follows this is up to you. It might be against better judgment or with everyone's blessings. Or even despite it all.

I think it's been all of these for me, at one time or another. Following my heart invariably leads me far from the familiar, moving away from what I know.

Someone once said to me, "It takes character to stay in one place and be happy there". Cheap shot. Happy is such a deliciously slippery word. All I know is the moment I know how, I begin to die a little. In tam-jai, I buy some extra time.
